One of Northern Ireland's top Fire Safety Consultants gives MRDL a clean bill of health & safety. Managing Director Richard McConaghy explained that he welcomed external experts coming to review MRDL's fire warning system to ensure that best practice was in place.


Portrush Truckfest -  great fundraiser
Date: 20 August 2015


An outstanding team effort at Portrush on Sunday 16 August saw MRDL take a well deserved third place at the Portrush Truckfest. 9 of MRDL smart and shiny trucks took part and a lot of money was raised for the RNLI. In the words of an attendee at the event "an awesome looking outfit, class." Managing Director thanked everyone, not just those who were able to attend.

New Fire Marshal in MRDL 
Date: 12th August 2015

Conor Spence and Michael Armstrong completed formal Fire Marshal training with Conor being appointed as MRDL's Fire Marshall thereafter.
Fire Safety is an important part of the companies overall health and safety policy and Conor is ideally positioned to educate, inform and ensure compliance with the support of others in this area.

Addition to Management Team
Date: 15th July 2015

Michael Armstrong joins as Compliance Manager and just in time for a British Retail Consortium (BRC) 'unannounced' audit which was passed with flying colours. MRDL was, if not the first, one the first refrigerated haulage companies in Northern Ireland to be subject to an unannounced BRC audit.  


Managing Director Richard McConaghy praised the entire team for their continued commitment to ensuring compliance continues to run through the scope of all operations, exceeding the BRC standard and wished Michael every success as part of the small management team.

Agreed Values

This week saw us review our companies values. Plain and meaningful is what we went for; valuing customers, pursuing excellence, dedication to continual improvement, doing what we say we will and acting responsibly.

Managing Director, Richard McConaghy, thanked the management for their input and said the company values were about ensuring that we were able to maintain our current customers and gain new customers by providing a high standard of service whilst remaining committed to improving the services we provide.  

More V8 Scania's
Date: 25th March 2015

We are very pleased to announce that this Month saw 2 new V8 Scania's join the fleet. Both looked amazing coming out of the paint shop and were a treat to drive home to the MRDL yard.


Richard passed on his thanks to all involved in bringing the new Scania R580 and Scania R520 into service.


RHA Compliance Seminar
Date: 3rd March 2015

This seminar saw company representatives at the Road Haulage Association Compliance and Employment Seminar at Templepatrick. The main focus of the conference was the importance of complying with regulations and the risk transport operators face if they are found wanting. Being a member of the RHA reflects that we value their 'on hand' expertise and their ability to lobby government on behalf of their members.

Celebration - C + E licence for Gavin and Conor 
Date: 13th February 2015

Gavin McConaghy and Conor Spence, as one would expect, passed their tests first time. Gavin and Conor have been inseparable friends for too many years to mention. They continue to be hugely valuable members of the team.

The experience they have gained across the entire scope of operations will hold them in good stead. The entire team wish them every success and safe driving.




















BRC - Mock Product Recall 
Date: 2nd February 2015

The week before last saw our British Retail Consortium Accreditation credentials being checked via a mock product recall. This meant we had to produce all relevant records, including temperatures, trailer details and exact movements etc from the point of collection to the POD being signed. 

It went without a hitch and our customers were very satisfied with the speed and the accuracy of the relevant records being produced.

Reducing our carbon footprint
Date: 1st February 2015

This year will see new Euro 6 specification tractor units joining our fleet as part of our fleet renewal project, as we continue to strive to reduce the carbon footprint of our fleet.
